Raoul Dufy was a French Fauvist painter and designer celebrated for his joyful, colorful works depicting leisure, music, and coastal scenes. Influenced by Matisse and Impressionism, Dufy developed a distinctive, decorative style characterized by fluid lines, vibrant hues, and cheerful themes. He worked across various media—painting, textile design, ceramics, and stage sets. One of his most famous works is La Fée Électricité, a massive mural for the 1937 Paris International Exhibition. Though sometimes dismissed as lightweight, Dufy’s art offers a vivid, uplifting vision of modern life and continues to be widely appreciated for its charm and elegance.
