Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi, known as Sandro Botticelli, was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance, celebrated for his poetic and graceful style. Based in Florence, he was a favourite of the Medici family and painted mythological masterpieces like The Birth of Venus and Primavera, both rich with classical symbolism and flowing lines. Botticelli also created numerous religious works and contributed to the Sistine Chapel frescoes. Though his fame declined after his death, Botticelli’s art was rediscovered in the 19th century and is now admired for its ethereal beauty and unique interpretation of human emotion and mythology.
