Amedeo Modigliani

1884

1920

Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor best known for his stylized portraits and nudes characterized by elongated faces and figures. Working mostly in Paris, he blended influences from African sculpture, Renaissance art, and modernism to create uniquely expressive works. Despite poor health and poverty, Modigliani’s art conveyed sensuality and melancholy, with iconic paintings like Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne. He died young at 35, but posthumously gained acclaim as a major modernist, influencing portraiture with his distinctive blend of elegance and emotional depth.
